It’s not the best book out there, but if you’re a fairy lover then this may just float your boat. Some of Birdie’s thoughts and dialogue are a little unrealistic and corny compared to other books written for the same YA audience. Unfortunately, the story is confusing at times. The Fairy Godmother Academy #1: Birdie’s Book by Jan Bozarth is great for girls who love fairies and magical worlds. At her side is another soon-to-be-Fairy Godmother, Kerka, who Birdie meets in Aventurine, the magical world that exists in Mo’s garden. Birdie, chooses the former and becomes a Fairy Godmother-in-training, learning about her remarkable gift from a team of fairies and her own adventures. They are a lineage of Fairy Godmothers, who must choose between awakening their gift or losing it forever. And it’s up to Birdie to fix the stone and heal the tree.īirdie learns that there’s more to her mother’s side of the family than meets the eye. But the tree is dying all because the singing stone, a stone symbolizing their family’s union, is broken. There are beautiful blooming flowers, a bridge and a magical family tree.
